A Friend’s Three Rules of Life

My old high school buddy, ex-Marine, and now a member of the Patriot Guards, shared his three rules for getting along in life. They are of course great, and suggest analogies with rules for surfing through life:

  • You don’t conquer the mountain. You conquer yourself.
  • The most difficult thing in life is not getting what you want; it is wanting it after you get it.
  • Life is too short to hunt with an ugly gun.

Life is certainly too short to surf with an ugly board – and there is wisdom in all of his rules for getting by in life.
